Uri Scherbina
Background Scherbina Uri Nikolayevich, born February 27, 1962 in the village of Yasnaya Polyana, Herson obl., Novotroschinsky district. Moved to the town of Askania Nova with my parents. In 1979 finished high school and a technical one and then served in the army. In 1982 after army entered Herson marine school. After graduation married. Couldn't find a job as a seaman so I began to work as gas welder at a Fish factory. In 1994 I came to Christ, was baptized and began to follow The Holy Spirit and the same year I went to Moscow Christian seminary" Grace" In 1996 our pastor died and I finished the founding of the church" Birth of Christ" he had started. I always was my pastor helper and now I minister instead of him. I have a wife Ekaterina- 1963 born children Anna- 1984 Andrew- 1991. My life testimony When I was 18 I was greatly disappointed and wanted to die. I always heard a voice calling me, as if to the other planet. This voice never let me alone and only when I was 33 I understood who was HE. When I was telling people about this voice they answered that was God. My army service was tough and I wanted to fade away even then. I wrote several applications to be sent to Afghanistan to die there as soon as possible. But...God saved me already then I married, had a lover alongside. I felt so happy but... I still wanted to die. It was like idea fixed and burning inside me. Satan threw me from one desire to another. Now I wanted to start drinking. But hard work and clear mind, I really didn't know how it happened brought me to Christ. I'm the happiest man in the world. This happiness is so close to each of us. Don't let Satan blind you! I'm free from all the old bad habits and friends. I pray for them! When I repented my father brought me to the pastor of the church, who was already sick. He embraced me and said, this is our future pastor- I felt confused. I came home and asked God if is was not a joke. Church meetings, fellowship and Christian warmness became as daily bread for me. Then I went to Seminary. My past life is like nightmare now. HE was leading me to HIM constantly, stretching HIS kind hand and rising me when I was stumbling. HIS will was and is my goal for the rest of my life. MY PLANS, HOPES AND GOALS for the future: 1.God to use me to my last day. My dream is to have a church in Askanya Nova. 2.To involve all the villages around Askanya Nova to plant some cell groups which will turn into a big numerous church. 3.To prepare leaders and lay-men 4. To carry the Gospel message to every house! 5. I Plan to have a Bible school, a missionary center and a rehabilitation unit. I can see that the support and training given to me by The Gospel Vision Foundation is all a part of God’s plan to enable me to not only reach the goals God had given me, but to reach even beyond them and include our whole nation- and beyond. Even now church owes a part of a kindergarten. We can buy it plus a plot of land. The some is very low only 15000 grivnas ($3,000). This will allow us to care for the many orphans in our area who have no other place to live. |
